We spent the last two weeks in class working on self portraits.  I purchased self standing mirrors so that each student could observe themselves while drawing.  This was the first time we have used mirrors to do self portraits.  I could really see the difference.  We drew our portraits in black crayon and then painted them with tempera paints.  The last step was for students to add images that tell more about themselves, hobbies, interests, favorite things, etc…

These were done by students K-5th grade.  I think they turned out great!  They were able to get a likeness of themselves and express their individuality.
