Our World Traveler workshop started this week with a visit to Peru. Â First, we read Up and Down the Andes by Laurie Krebs and Aurelia Fronty. Â We learned a little bit about Peru and the famous textiles produced by Peruvians. Â We talked about line and pattern, and then created our own patterns in oil pastel. Â We used liquid watercolor to add bands of color to these patterns. Â While our paintings were drying, we drew llamas using chalk and oil pastel. Â We then cut out the llamas and glued them to the patterned background.
My youngest daughter said this was her favorite project so far. Â : ) Â They did turn out great!
Thank you to Mary Making for the idea!
