My 3rd-5th grade classes started a project this week based on the book, The Little Hippo by Anja Klauss and Geraldine Elshner.  We learned about the turquoise colored earthenware hippos made by ancient Egyptians.  The gorgeous illustrations of the book served as the inspiration for our drawings.  We drew with oil pastel and then painted with puck tempera.  Most of these are not yet finished, but I wanted to share some pictures of the class hard at work.
